Israeli Army Says It Is on High Alert Over Possible Renewed Iran War
(MENAFN) The Israeli military said on Monday evening that it is on high alert for a possible resumption of hostilities with Iran, as tensions continue to escalate between Tehran and Washington in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, the army said it is closely monitoring developments in the region.
“We are monitoring the situation and are on high alert amid the escalation in the Gulf," the army said in a statement.
It also confirmed that there have been no changes to civilian safety instructions issued by the Home Front Command.
"We confirm that there is no change in the instructions of the Home Front Command," it added.
An Israeli public broadcaster reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a series of security consultations throughout the day to assess the evolving situation in the Gulf region.
The heightened alert comes amid continuing regional instability following strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran on Feb. 28, which triggered retaliatory actions from Tehran targeting Israel and US-aligned interests in the Gulf, alongside disruptions in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
