Lebanon Army Chief Pledges Recovery of Occupied Land from Israel
During a visit to the headquarters of the 12th Infantry Brigade in the Qobbeh area of Tripoli, Haykal met with officers and reviewed military operations, according to an official army statement.
He stressed the importance of internal stability, saying that national cohesion is essential for safeguarding the country against external pressures and that this relies on the strength and resolve of the armed forces.
“Civil peace is the strongest weapon to protect Lebanon from the threats it faces, and that is achieved through the army’s resilience and determination,” he said.
He also warned against criticism directed at the military institution, arguing that undermining its role—whether intentionally or not—could serve external interests and deepen internal divisions.
“Anyone who undermines the military institution and questions its role, whether knowingly or not, serves the objectives of the Israeli occupation and stirs divisions that fuel internal strife,” he added.
Haykal concluded by reaffirming Lebanon’s position on territorial integrity, stating that the country “will reclaim every inch of its land under Israeli occupation.”
Israel maintains control over areas in southern Lebanon, some of which have been occupied for decades, while others came under control during more recent conflicts.
