(MENAFN) All six personnel aboard a US KC-135 refueling aircraft that crashed in western Iraq on Thursday were killed, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM that the crash occurred during Operation Epic Fury, which began last month. Two aircraft were involved in the operation; one went down in western Iraq while the other landed safely.

Caine added, “Those are very, very, very tough days when that knock comes on the door.”

The fatalities bring the total number of US service members killed since the start of the operation on Feb. 28 to 13.
