Orban Claims Ukraine “Will Stop at Nothing” to Prevent Him from Winning

(MENAFN) The Hungarian government claims that war-torn Ukraine "will stop at nothing" to prevent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his Fidesz party from securing victory in the upcoming elections.

Officials allege that plans are underway for physical attacks on the prime minister and his family, as well as sabotage of critical energy infrastructure.

In response, the Ukrainian government accuses Hungary of orchestrating a campaign of fear and hostility to pressure citizens into voting Fidesz back into power, as stated by reports.

Meanwhile, Russia appears to be playing a role behind the scenes. Reports indicate that a Kremlin-linked media consultancy, the Social Design Agency, is preparing a large-scale disinformation effort in Hungary aimed at supporting Orbán and undermining the opposition Tisza Party and its leader, Peter Magyar.

With just 30 days remaining before the Hungarian parliamentary election, some analysts interpret the surge in anti-Ukraine rhetoric as evidence that Orbán is nervous about a likely defeat. Current polling places Fidesz at 39%, trailing the Tisza Party’s 50%.
