Russian air forces strike key bridge in Dnepropetrovsk Region
(MENAFN) Russian forces have targeted a strategic bridge in Dnepropetrovsk Region to disrupt Ukrainian military logistics, according to reports. The Defense Ministry shared a video showing the bridge being struck, claiming it served as a crucial supply route for Ukrainian troops near the town of Pokrovskoye. Ukrainian forces reportedly used the crossing to transport equipment and ammunition.
Footage released by the ministry shows several powerful explosions hitting the structure, causing at least one span to collapse.
Later on Friday, the ministry stated that Russian troops had captured the village of Novoaleksandrovka, located 12km from Pokrovskoye on the opposite bank of the Volchya River. The offensive reportedly secured control over an area of 12 square kilometers.
Russian forces have been advancing steadily in recent months. Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov said troops are progressing in nearly all directions, while officials claim that Ukrainian forces are sacrificing personnel as “cannon fodder” in a conflict they cannot win.
Recent Ukrainian setbacks led Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky to reportedly dismiss two senior officers in Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye Regions. Syrsky described the front-line situation in mid-October as “difficult.”
Moscow has stated that it is open to peace talks, provided its national interests and current realities are acknowledged. It accuses Kyiv of delaying negotiations and showing little willingness to end the conflict. Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities continue to insist on reclaiming all former territories, and US President Donald Trump noted earlier this month that Kyiv intends to go on the offensive against Russia.
