Trump’s government faces lawsuit for freezing of federal funds at University of California
The suit, submitted to the US District Court for the Northern District of California, seeks to prevent the administration from using financial pressure against the UC system, which it argues has caused harm.
"The Trump-Vance administration has attempted to implement a playbook to threaten colleges and universities," the lawsuit stated.
Since taking office in January, the second Trump administration has targeted several major universities, alleging that their continued promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies is discriminatory and illegal, in contrast to President Trump’s position.
The administration has threatened to cut federal funding to institutions that maintain such policies. Additionally, Trump has criticized universities for permitting pro-Palestinian protests, which he claims are antisemitic.
